Tunnel pasteurizer

The Spadoni tunnel pasteurizers are single – or multistage – systems with heat recovery for the pasteurization of products packaged in glass, cans and PET dedicated to the food and canning industries. Due to the specific nature of their use, Spadoni’s tunnel pasteurizers can be customized to meet the exact needs of each customer.

Our tunnel pasteurizers (C-45) are built with 18-10 stainless steel (AISI 304) and are completed by fully inspectable external heat exchangers and cooling tunnels. Upon request, they can be fully automated.

The pasteurizers can be built to work both continuously or in batches, and using both steam or water circulation.



Operating principles

A fundamental step in the food production chain to guarantee a quality product, the thermal pasteurization process – unlike that of sterilization – is able to protect the health of the consumer while maintaining the nutritional properties of the processed aliment.

In pasteurization, the product is subjected to a high temperature – up to 100°C – for several minutes. This eliminates any pathogenic microorganisms present, thus guaranteeing the uncontaminated conservation of the product.

In general, tunnel pasteurizers are structured in several sections: heating, pasteurization and cooling. The heating and cooling sections are designed to optimize energy consumption, and the pasteurization sections to maintain the right pasteurization unit ratio.



  • Load-bearing structure, suitably sized, built with 18-10 stainless steel sheets and profiles (AISI 304);
  • adjustable support feet;
  • product-advancement belt inside the polypropylene (PP) tunnel, resting on 18-10 stainless steel (AISI 304) guides and operated by a gear motor, with inverter;
  • infeed and outfeed belt driven by gear motor, with inverter;
  • catenary in 18-10 stainless steel (AISI 304), and motors with casing;
  • water collection tank in 18-10 stainless steel (AISI 304), with inspection hatches;
  • pressure gauges;
  • electric pumps for water circulation;
  • pipes to the ramps, and removable ramps for inspecting nozzles;
  • 18-10 stainless steel (AISI 304) manifold pipes, complete with spray nozzles for uniform water distribution;
  • electronic thermo-registration on band paper to record temperatures and pasteurization cycles;
  • electronic thermoregulation, to control the temperature of pasteurization water;
  • electronic thermoregulation, to control cooling water temperature;
  • steam suction system in 18-10 stainless steel (AISI 304);
  • fan for shelling of containers;
  • electrical panel in 18-10 stainless steel (AISI 304), containing all low voltage controls and motor protections that manage the operation of the pasteurizer.
