Unitank 2.0 isobaric fermenter

The Spadoni product range dedicated to the brewing industry includes a full range of stainless steel tanks (from 12 to 300 Hl). From simple storage tanks to mixers, heaters/coolers, fermenters, and any other type of stainless steel container that the customer specifications might require.

UniTank 2.0 (B-39) is a isobaric fermenter, closed cylindrical-conical tank (bottom at 60°) certified by PED (TUV) for the fermentation of beer. But not only. In fact, Unitank 2.0 is ideal also for maturation, priming, and dry-hopping.

Operating principles

By isobaric fermentation we define the leavening process that takes place inside a hermetically sealed container subjected to constant pressure, which culminates in the “natural” carbonation of the beer. The pressure applied during the fermentation process traps the carbon dioxide produced inside the beer.

Unitank 2.0 is the perfect answer to these needs. Its technical characteristics ensure the optimal pressurisation of the beer, along with a variable-height partial exit on the cone, and the ability to sample without foam.

Isobaric fermenter ‘s characteristics

  • UniTank 2.0 is made entirely of 18-10 stainless steel (AISI 304) with external coating in satin stainless steel.
  • Welding is conducted with an automatic TIG process within an inert gas atmosphere and subsequently treated.
  • PED certificate (TÜV): the fermenter is guaranteed to work up to 3 bar of pressure.
  • In the Unitank 2.0, both the first fermentations, as well as the ripening under pressure can be carried out, thus removing the need for ripeners.
  • Priming function. In the case of fermentation in the bottle, a specific input entry built into the plating, allows the fermenter to be used to mix the sugary solution with the beer.
  • Dry hopping function. It can be done in two ways: “free in the tank”, using the total “oversize” discharge of the fermenter to allow the discharge of the exhausted pellets from the bottom of the tank. Or by connecting an external hop-back and exploiting the specific input entry into the plating, for a better homogenization of the beer.
  • Tank pressurisation function. The use of a porous candle and the pressure regulator allow for the carbonation of an unfermented beer in isobaric, or for correcting the amount of carbon dioxide in the beer.
  • The partial outlet on the cone is fixed, but thanks to the innovative draft system, the beer can be taken at different heights on the cone of the fermenter.
  • Sampling through the pigtail allows for foam-free sampling when the fermenter is under pressure.
